Yeh, sad news indeed. Was a terrific actor with a cockney sense of humour and The Sweeney and Minder were both superb. RIP Dennis.

Pickled,
We know for a fact that you are sitting in front of a computer screen having that fantasy. Just as a matter of interest, is your trouser waist-band above or below the knee right now?

Problem is Pointy, you're traumatised by your even more pointy-headed sister slapping you all your life.

Swiss,
I may well be a knuckle-dragger, but at least I don't run away when asked to define what a female is.

Yes, Waterman admitted Lenska got hit and basically stated that Lenska was asking for it by saying something like "it's easy for a woman to create situations where they get hit".
Still, Waterman did no wrong and that his wife beating can be brushed under the carpet in knuckle dragger SurfaceAgentX2Zero's world. What a dinosaur this bloke seems to be.

I think his only ex that accused him of knocking them about was Rula Lenska, who is nutty as a fruitcake. In the absence of any corroboration from other exes and kids, I'm going to call Amber Heard on this one.
RIP Dennis, stooge to two of my favourite lines from 70s/80s telly:
'Oi George! You ginger?'
'A large VAT and a half of lager for my business associate'
Much missed, Dennis, George and John.
The one with James Bolam and Alun Armstrong was very good too. Until Dennis was last man Standing (ouch!)

RIP Dennis
The first Minder was by far the best with Terry in it, the 2nd batch with his cousin or whoever it was was ok and I had the misfortune of working with Shane Ritchie on the last shitshow!

Superb chemistry him and John Thaw had in The Sweeney then he also had a great rapport with George Cole in Minder.

Perhaps not the original production then.
"Waterman played the role of Oliver Twist in the production of the Lionel Bart musical Oliver! staged at the Mermaid Theatre, London, in the early 1960s, and appears on the cast recording released in 1961".

RIP, couple of things spring to mind. Bumping into a few Herbert's who used to run around the corridors in school singing the Sweeney theme tune the day after it was on and precede to kick the shit out of anyone they cornered. Went on for weeks but to far and came to an abrupt end when one kid took a steel toe cap breaking his hooter with claret everywhere. Gave him a hanky to mop up and a warning to keep his gob shut which he duly obliged.
Other was given to tickets to see George Cole in Pirate's of Penzance at Drury Lane, wasn't looking forward to it particularly, but GC was brilliant, funny fucker.

He had a great career and was in two superb TV series at least another good one. Remember him talking about working with George Cole and saying it was a pleasure. They both grew up in South London and were child actors who had graduated to acting adults so they had a lot in common.

I believe that he played The Artful Dodger opposite Phil Collins' Oliver in the original West End production
